We invited London based classical violinist and friend of Turnbull, Olivia Holland, to play a series of her favourite pieces for your enjoyment.
An opera written by the French composer Jules Massenet. Thaïs is set in Egypt under the rule of the Roman Empire, where Athanaël, a Cenobite monk, attempts to convert Thaïs an Alexandrian courtesan to Christianity. In between the scenes of Act II, where Athanaël is trying to persuade Thaïs to find salvation through God, Méditation is played by solo violin.
