ガンニさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ガンニInstagram)「WHAT DOES 'RECYCLED' ACTUALLY MEAN Our latest collection contains certified recycled polyester and a recycled cotton and polyester blend – but what does 'recycled' actually mean? • Last year, we began to accelerate the transitioning to more responsible fabrics in our collections, and continue to increase the share of recycled materials in our collections. • At GANNI, we’re using the word ‘recycled’ interchangeably, but what does it actually mean? • Something being ‘recycled’ spans a wide array of sourcing opportunities for a garment, and sometimes in our communication, things can sound a bit ambiguous. • It’s important for us to distinguish between pre- and post-consumer fibres, something that is easy to miss when talking about recycling. The certification comes from The Global Recycled Standard that validates if the content is actually recycled and gives us visibility into the actual content of the recycled material. • If a roll of fabric is produced for a season and not used in the intended production, and then repurposed for the season afterwards, the fabric is usually classified as recycled - even though it most accurately can be described as stock optimization. • Items recycled from post-consumer waste adhere to the more widely standard perception of recycled, meaning that fibres are derived from plastic packaging such as plastic bottles, used garments etc. • How we talk about recycling matters and misleading frames are used more often than not.
