Nan has known Joel since she was 16 years old and I’ve known him since I was 21. We could never imagine writing about Joel and feeling sad because he was very happy and always a daredevil and smarter than anybody we knew. His kindness to people and his honesty about himself, for us, made him someone to live for — Bruce and Nan.
