The Records is a series where we look at past projects, collaborations and noteworthy pieces that have shaped the wings+horns trajectory. This week we reflect on the custom Japanese patchwork sashiko pieces from our Spring/Summer 2014 collection.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Sashiko - translating to “little stabs” - is a form of functional embroidery which originated in 17th century Japan, and until the 1950’s it was the traditional method of making and repairing workwear for fishermen and farmers throughout the country. The practice honoured and preserved the make of every garment it touched, enhancing a garment's longevity with considered care. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Our collection used three needle chain stitching to create the “sashiko stitch”. It included short and long sleeve shirts (with mother of pearl buttons), a two-button blazer fully lined with chambray and accented by real bone buttons, and slim fit shorts - also featuring real bone buttons on the fly, waistband and pockets. ⠀ ⠀ #wingsandhorns #therecords」6月25日 23時09分
