Ward in Antwerp for the recording of the song ‘When I Write The Book’. I’ve been listening to M. Ward for over a decade and I never get tired of his voice. We have recorded a duet before in 2012: ‘Eyes on The Prize’ and I still love that song, recorded in three takes on Floris Klinkert’s couch in Amsterdam. Still I had the feeling we could work on something more outstanding and he came up with the Nick Lowe song. I loved it right away, cause we could give it the swampy twist I thought would work best for our voices. After we recorded guitars and vocals with engineer Pascal Deweze at Studio Jezus (shaking because of the heat) we sent the song to Austin (always hot) where Janne’s SXSW band member Stephen Belans added the lovely drums and organ parts.
