We are in the midst of a pandemic, and it isn’t getting better. The numbers 😬 Just yesterday the United States saw its THIRD consecutive day of record COVID-19 cases in one day. It was 42,717 new diagnoses —*just yesterday*—and counting (by 3:15pm PST). Europe has announced that when it reopens next week, US travelers will be banned from entry due to our abject failure in responding to, or controlling, the outbreak here. “It really does feel like the U.S. has given up,” said Siouxsie Wiles, an infectious-diseases specialist in New Zealand. “It’s hard to see how this ends. There are just going to be more and more people infected, and more and more deaths. It’s heartbreaking.” The writing is on the wall, and this failure in leadership is costing lives. Despite what your POTUS is saying, reducing the number of tests does NOT equal a reduction in our cases. Experts estimate that the number of infected Americans is likely around ten times higher than the number of reported cases. (I’ll link some of those articles in my stories today) We are seeing a major increase in cases all around the country right now. Florida. Arizona. Arkansas is up 180%. California is still climbing. Hospitals are being overwhelmed and we are hearing from doctors that they have to decide who gets life-saving care and who doesn’t — meaning folks are left to die — based on algorithms.
