#ArtWords: Exquisite corpse (cadavre exquis) is a drawing game invented in 1925 in Paris by the surrealists Yves Tanguy, Jacques Prévert, André Breton and Marcel Duchamp.
📄A piece of paper is folded into sections, and each player takes in turns to draw the next part of a body without being able to see what the others have drawn. The final result is a strange, surreal creation of different parts.
It has been used by many artists since - this is an example from Young British Artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, who take the game very seriously. They say 'it's a constant battle between my brother's desires and my desires... and that makes a friction that you make something out of.' ✏️ Fancy playing today?
