I have endured the stares of strangers while on layovers in cities that are not as diverse. The snickers of others as my wife and I hold hands in the grocery store. We are fighting to have a place in this world that accepts and acknowledges our differences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The past few months have been especially trying for all of us. I have had coworkers reach out to me personally to ask how they can better support me and the Black community. They have been so open to learning and asking questions to gain insight and that has meant a lot to me. What makes me most proud about being Black, female and lesbian is the fact that those pieces of me are derived from three groups who have fought so hard to be seen and heard. There is still work to be done for all three communities to get the unconditional love and support we all deserve.
