Last week saw another historic moment for the conservation of Regent Honeyeaters with Taronga Zoo releasing 20 zoo-bred birds into the wild on a private property in the Lower Hunter in NSW. This was the largest release of Regent Honeyeaters ever undertaken in NSW and will really help bolster wild populations until they are self-sustaining. Unfortunately, Regent Honeyeaters are critically endangered with numbers in the wild estimated to be less than 350 remaining.⁣

Thank you to our partners @nswenviromedia, @birdlifeoz, NSW Environmental Trust, Saving our Species, Hunter Local Land Services Biodiversity Conservation Trust, together we are helping secure a future for both wildlife and people.⁣
