渋谷スクランブル交差点の東にある「宮益坂下交差点」。江戸時代、ここは富士見坂と呼ばれ旅人が富士山を眺め、一服するための茶屋街として栄えました。
今もカフェやレストランが並ぶにぎやかな通りですが、同じ渋谷にある道玄坂と比べると落ち着いた雰囲気を保っていました。
しかし、渋谷の再開発により宮益坂下交差点を取り巻く景観も大きく変化しています。
渋谷ヒカリエ・渋谷ストリーム・渋谷スクランブルスクエアが開業し、東京メトロ銀座線のホームが移設。
隣にあるバスターミナルも、それらに合わせるように刻々と形を変えています。渋谷スクランブル交差点とともにダイナミックに変わりゆく渋谷を感じられる場所です。

Miyamasuzaka-shita is the intersection just east of the Shibuya Scramble intersection. In the Edo Period, it was called “Fujimi-zaka (lit. “Fuji View) Slope”, a spot where travelers would enjoy the view while stopping in for a cup in the tea district.
Many cafes and eateries still line the street today, but in comparison to the other Shibuya neighborhood, Dogenzaka, next door, this area has a more chill and relaxed vibe.
Recently, new developments have made big changes to the face of the Miyamasuzaka Intersection area.
The new Shibuya Hikarie, Shibuya Stream, Shibuya Scramble Square, and move of the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line’s train platform are just a few.
Even the bus terminal next door is changing every minute to keep up. As the Shibuya Scramble Intersection continues to change, you can really feel some big changes underway in Shibuya.
