Now that their days aren’t spent at school, teen pregnancy rates are spiking, and some girls even resorting to transactional sex to provide for their families. Education is essential for these girls to have a voice in their own future. School is more than a place to learn – it’s a safe space. For girls like these ones in the pictures (who I met in The Gambia with @shesthefirst), community-based organizations are providing crucial safety nets, but not all girls there have the same access.
