I’m so inspired by the strong and powerful voices of our youth today. Day after day, they are taking a stand and motivating others to join them in our collective fight for equality. This week my #WCW is Trude Lamb who took a stand to change the problematic name of her highschool Robert E. Lee - and it’s school song which explicitly glorifies Lee, a Confederate general who lived from 1807 to 1870 and owned slaves. Lamb said, “I can’t be playing sports, supporting, and going to a school that was named after a person who was against my people right here in the United States. He owned slaves and didn’t believe people like me were 100% human let alone ever go to my very high school. Trude, an in-coming sophomore and medaled cross country runner, wrote a letter to the school board demanding that the name be changed or she will refuse to wear the jersey. I urge you all to sign the petition with the link in my bio and stand with Trude! ❤️
