I was debating whether or not it's selfish to go on holiday this summer... I was obviously on the side of it not being selfish. ✨ I totally understand why some people won't want to go anywhere, but I also understand why people would be desperate to! I think there's a LOT of judgement during this pandemic, but the truth is that whilst we're in the same storm we are in very different boats. Our finances, health, housing (outdoor space), having family abroad, and other external factors mean we really don't know what others are going through. For me personally, driving to France has put me in a lot less contact with people than I was in London. It's been so nice to be surrounded by greenery! Plus, my parents own a Guest House in Northumberland and I'm desperate for the hospitality industry to open so they can start to earn money again. I know the precautions they're going to and how much my mum has steralized the entire house. We can't presume everyone who wants to get away will do so irresponsibly. Like for me personally, I couldn't think of anythjng worse than going to a pub, but I've got friends who've gone through breakups and / or are mourning the loss of loved ones and are desperate for a sense of normality. I get that. I think we need to be a bit more compassionate and kind (although of course there will sadly always be idiots both staying at home and going away who are irresponsible).
