In 1880, Impressionist landscape painter Alfred Sisley and his family moved from the suburbs of Paris to the rural town of Veneux-Nadon where he painted 'La route de Veneux', currently offered for private sale.⠀

Here Sisley was inspired by the Poplar tree-lined banks of the region which soon became a central theme of his painting. His fascination with the local scenery is clear in his work, capturing the relationship between land, water and sky, and the changing effects of light in his surroundings.⠀
