The largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found, the Staffordshire Hoard, was discovered #onthisday in 2009 ✨

Weighing over 5kg, the hoard contained 4,600 items from sword hilts and weapon fittings to fine jewellery and gold plaques. It was probably deposited in the 7th century AD, and is on display at @birmingham_mag and the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.
