I’m thrilled to welcome @keiamcswain of @blackinteriordesignersnetwork who will be taking over the DS feed this week to talk about her life, her work, the BIDN and bigger issues in the community related to racism and equity. ✨✨ This takeover is the first of many because I realize that equity and change starts at home. And this is my online home- and it’s time to change. Starting this week I will be working to turn this from a blog-turned-personal platform into a community page dedicated to the voices and work of designers of color. I’m divesting myself from the center of this platform (I’ll still be here, I am still invested in this work, and you’ll still hear from me) because I want to *invest* in designers of color. I’m using my DS savings to fund a wide ranging series of takeovers here from a diverse group of designers across not just the US but the world at large. They will be sharing their stories, their work and their expertise here every week. This is a permanent change: this is not just a week or month. For as long as I have access to this feed, I want to open this space up to any designer of color in the creative community (in any discipline and any field of art and design) who would like to connect with the community here online that I know cares deeply about not just design but the people that make design what it is.
