Most of you guys know that he is from South Africa, and many of you know that we were making plans to live together this May. Well, with travel bans galore thanks to the ongoing pandemic, neither of us have been allowed to travel to each other’s country. This is by far the longest we’ve ever been apart in the 1 year & 8 months we’ve been in a relationship. It’s been so incredibly hard to be apart, and with zero information or concrete answers it’s so very hard to hold any sort of optimism about when we will possibly be together. Truthfully, words can’t really describe how down we’ve both been feeling. As someone who is typically a positive, upbeat, bright person...this is hard for me to admit. . . But I, along with thousands of other separated couples, are asking for an amendment to the rules of essential travel. Please, let it be considered essential for couples to be reunited. Love is essential, now more than ever! All I want is to be with the person that I love during this scary time. While life slowly starts to move towards normalcy for many, there are thousands of separated couples on the edge of their seats, with their lives on hold, not knowing when they will be reunited with their person. We are willing to quarantine, willing to take tests upon departure & arrival, willing to comply with health & safety rules to protect our communities. We just want to be together 🙏🏼 . . I’ve signed petitions, I’ve contacted embassies, but I believe the most hopeful means of creating a change is by bringing awareness.
