Today’s #Rolemodelmonday’s are Robin + Andréa McBride from @mcbridesisters, the largest African-American-owned wine company in the US. The Sisters were born to the same father but different mothers, and they were raised to believe that they were only children. Although being born continents apart, they both had parallel lives growing up amongst the vineyards in New Zealand and California. The sisters would eventually find their way to each other and upon meeting, quickly discovered they shared the same passions for fine winemaking and female empowerment values. Together, they created McBride Sisters and with every new wine collection, or Sisters as they like to call it, they remind every woman to be empowered and fearless. Recently, they welcomed Black Girl Magic and SHE CAN into their collection and created a SHE CAN Professional Development Fund. They’ve already awarded $40k to promote the professional advancement of women in the wine industry. This year on Juneteenth, the Sisters launched the SHE CAN THRIVE program, awarding grants to black-female-owned small businesses to not just survive, but to thrive in a post-quarantine world. They created a sisterhood where women could bond over their achievement and wine. Talk about amazing role models and strong leadership in the wine industry!
