Last November, Pacific collections curator Julie Adams, scientist Chris Mussell and organics conservator Monique Pullan spent three weeks visiting the islands of Tahiti, Taha’a and Ra’iatea in French Polynesia on a research and knowledge-sharing trip.

The trip follows an extensive two-year conservation treatment of an 18th-century Tahitian heva tūpāpā’u, or chief mourner’s costume, in the Museum’s collection that was carried out in consultation with visiting experts from Tahiti and the UK.
