What’s so inspiring about the #NineMusesLab students is how they as a community continue to support each other, especially as artists navigating this new landscape and way of collaborating. I’m grateful that we’re able to spotlight some of the alum and their ideas and work as part of #MuseMonday with @ninemusesentertainment.

First up is Tyaela Nieves (@tyaelanieves)! You can watch her full conversation, “Giving Yourself Permission to Go Slowly” on the @ninemusesentertainment IGTV.

Tyaela says, “I have always considered myself an interdisciplinary artist because my passion for writing, directing, acting, performance, and collaboration exceeds any box someone might try to stuff me into. I believe that any role in a room can be a creative role and I’ve learned that after years of dipping my hands into many pools, including crew and wardrobe.

Post grad is a time to question what you’ve learned, what you want, and what you bring to the table. Add a global pandemic and a people’s revolution to that and you get a time that demands that you remain open to what life is giving you. We all have an idea of what we want for our futures, but the greatest artists I know have all ended up somewhere they couldn’t have expected.”
