Behold: @jiatortellini's nightstand. Which, at the moment, also serves as her desk for Zoom calls, and will soon become a changing table. For our #NewYorkerNightstand series, featuring photos of our contributors' #toread piles, Jia shared a little bit about her setup. "The reading lamp actually used to belong to my friend/colleague/former neighbor Rebecca Mead, who gave it to me when she moved from Brooklyn to London; the Stabilo highlighter is chilling on the coaster because I sometimes read for work before I go to bed," she writes. "I’m very thankful for this nightstand because of how spaciously it accommodates my reading habits—the books on it and in it are mostly books that I’ve read or revisited recently, with a handful of books I’m excited to pick from next. (In my house, the bedroom is NOT a space for books to linger unread.) Every book on the top of the nightstand—'My Baby First Birthday,' 'Memorial,' 'The Undocumented Americans,' 'Figure It Out,' and 'Pew'—has been a total highlight of quarantine." Let us know in the comments whose #NewYorkerNightstand you'd like to see next!
