The oppression and impunity of the system makes us beleive it is "ok" and we should get over it. "The person didn't mean it", "ignore it, you are better than that", "don't react like a crazy person", "it is just a few words in an argument" or the worse of all "why are you so mad, you have anger issues"... All these excuses (or ways to dismiss the verbal abuse) are made mostly by men who are avoiding taking responsability of their actions. And sadly society mirrors it by reacting the same way and therefore end up developing toxic masculinity. Time to change. Speak up. Tell your story. We will have your back.
