Photo by @paoloverzone Amélie Deblauwe and Błażej Mikuła, photographers with the digital content unit of Cambridge University Library, prepare to capture a manuscript fragment from a tenth-century Masoretic Bible. They're using a custom-designed table for large maps and scrolls—anything oversized. The base moves but the camera stays fixed, making it possible to photograph large items with incredibly high quality; special software stitches together multiple images. The unit is tasked with digitizing all library holdings for a public database with 735,000 items—and over 13 million page views. Follow @paoloverzone for more photos and stories.
