When I was getting ready to perform at the #GayGames, My friend said to me, “Cyn, you should do a new #GirlsJustWantToHaveFun’ mix and have, like, fifty drag queens dancing with you.” So I did! That was the first time I worked with Jerry Mitchell, who I worked with on the Kinky Boots musical. Jerry knew exactly how to choreograph the drag queens. But I didn’t see them on the jumbotron and it was really upsetting to me. I was like, “Are you kidding me? What the heck?” After that I thought, “You won’t show them? I’ll show them.” And I made the video for “Hey Now” in 1994 with all of those fabulous #dragqueens by the twelve-story unisphere from the 1964–65 #WorldsFair, which is in #Queens—of course.
