お寺にいたのは…かわいいウサギ！？🐰
佐渡島にある #長谷寺 （ちょうこくじ）は、807年に空海が開いたとされる1200年もの歴史があるお寺です。
広い境内にはウサギがなんと100羽ほど放し飼いにされているのですが、なぜウサギが🤔？
その理由は、草取りをしてもらうため！
長谷寺では境内に咲く牡丹の花を使ってボタン酒を作っていることから、除草剤が使えないそう。
そこで、草取りを任せるお役目として十数年前からウサギがいるそうです。
ちょうど私が訪れたときは子うさぎが生まれたばかり！！！😍😍😍
住職にお願いしたら子うさぎも触らせてもらえます。
その子うさぎたちが、もう可愛くて・・・メロメロ
ちょうどアジサイが見頃だったので、一緒にパチリしました。
ちなみに、子うさぎは野鳥に襲われないよう特訓を受けたあとに屋外に出されるそうですよ💡
その他境内には、うさぎ観音や国指定文化財の観音像があったり、なんと本物の「棺」に入る暗闇体験や肝試し体験も！？
ちょうど行ったときが雨であちこち巡れなかったから、次は晴れた日に行きたいな〜☀

In the temple there was a...cute little rabbit!
Chokokuji Temple on Sado Island is a 1,200 year old temple that was founded by Kukai in 807.There are about 100 rabbits free-ranging on the temple grounds, but why rabbits?
The reason for that is to get the weeding done!The peonies on the temple grounds are used to make peony wine, so they can't use herbicides.So they have had rabbits for more than ten years to do the weeding for them.
Just when I visited, a baby rabbit had just been born! 😍😍😍If you ask the priest, he will let you touch the little rabbits too.In the precincts of the temple, there is a statue of the Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) and a statue of the Goddess of Mercy, which is designated as a national cultural asset, as well as a real "coffin" in the dark and a test of courage!
