Our editor @luomich has a sorting system for his reading list: the nightstand is for things he's trying to read right now; on the ledge, he piles the books he wants to get to (plus anything he's finished but hasn't yet moved over to his bookshelf). For our #NewYorkerNightstand series, featuring photos of our contributors' #toread piles, Luo shared a little bit about his book list. "During the beginning of the pandemic, I found it hard to read fiction, but then as the crisis stretched on, that’s all I could read," Luo said. "A lot of the books on the ledge are work-related. I just wrote a piece on 'A Free and Responsible Press,' a slim volume published in 1947 about the press and democracy that is still remarkably relevant today. I’m preparing for the Presidential campaign to ratchet back up, so I have an old biography of Joe Biden and two memoirs by him that I plan to get to soon. I subscribe to a lot of magazines. On my current stack: the latest @nyrbooks, @londonreviewofbooks, @theeconomist, @nymag, @Vanity Fair, @WIRED, and, of course, The New Yorker." Let us know in the comments whose #NewYorkerNightstand you'd like to see next!
