This is one of those days that knocks you in your gut and you wonder how much longer you can go on with this depressing and draining cause.😿💔 Meet Gary Poon. He is the new exec director of houstonhumane . He was their finance director for 21 years so as the story goes, it's all about money over the welfare of cats it appears.😾💵 We tried to send a polite email to him, asking him if he would do the right thing and stop providing declawing in the HHS Wellness Clinic but were were blocked. 😾 Today we saw that recently HHS took DOWN the declawing info & price from their website so we thought that maybe all of us inspired them to put the welfare of cats over money and stop declawing but unfortunately that's not true. #SpinelessCowards 👎🏻💵😾 We did some research today and 3 employees at HHS said that their WELLNESS Clinic still offers declawing. One employee said that they highly recommend against declawing but will do it if you ask for it. WTF?😾😾👎🏻 Another employee that makes the appointments for the WELLNESS Clinic said that a declaw that is done with a spay/neuter is $145 and a declaw on its own is $200-$210. They said that the age limit is 3 years old. 🙀😾They said that Dr Kevin Scruggs is the vet who does the declaws and he uses a scalpel. When asked if a declaw is ok for a cat, the employee said they haven't had any complaints and that's why they have an age limit at 3 yrs old because its harder for them to heal. 😿😿😿 Please send a polite email to Gary Poon and ask him why HHS' mission statement is to end animal cruelty yet they perform and profit from this inhumane and cruel amputation procedure in their WELLNESS Clinic. 😾💵💵gpoon@houstonhumane.org You can also CC their medical director Tony Malone - tmalone@houstonhumane.org and their declawing vet Kevin Scruggs - kscruggs@houstonhumane.org .
