Every one of the victims was a valued member of a family and community. Each of them are loved, needed, and missed. Today our hearts are with the victims and survivors, their families, and the entire binational community of El Paso. Following the example of resilience and compassion shown by the people of El Paso, we will not be intimidated by hate. We must all recommit ourselves to ending hate and gun violence in our country. I call upon the Senate to pass HR8 to institute some common-sense gun regulations that will help disarm hate and save lives. We must also push back against hateful narratives that cast Latinos as outsiders. As Latino essential workers continue to battle against COVID-19, it’s never been clearer that Latino communities constitute an essential thread in the fabric of America. It is unacceptable that some in elected office echo some of the very same hateful views of Latinos and immigrants that motivated the terrorist. The threat to El Paso didn’t come from families seeking a better life, but from a white supremacist who drove 9 hours to commit an act of terror. We honor the memory of those we lost in El Paso by working to make this an America in which everyone belongs. #rememberelpaso #elpasostrong #disarmhate #endgunviolence Repost: @thelatinxhouse」8月4日 4時48分 - dianexguerrero
