Wanting out of the traditional fashion system, in 2019 Norwegian designer Anne Karine Thorbjørnsen (@annekarinethorbjornsen) pressed pause of her business and took time to regroup and decide how she wanted to work going forward. In June she presented No title. Work(s) in progress, an art/fashion hybrid presentation in which she expressed her manifesto in seven pieces. Each representing an essential strand of her aesthetic DNA. They also communicate Thorbjørnsen’s approach to design, which is, she says, to “visualize a somehow sympathetic approach to empowerment; stealing power from the patriarch and draping it in femininity with materials and content with strong symbolic meaning and connotations, such as the pinstripe and lace.” Photo by @tovesivertsen.
