The story of Werner Stiller, an East German spy who acted as a double agent during the Cold War, is one of espionage and intrigue. In 1979, based on information that Stiller had provided, Western intelligence officials identified and arrested five East German spies working in West Germany. Stiller was spirited away to the U.S. and resettled by the C.I.A. In "Betrayal," a new short documentary, the director and producer @scottcalonico looks at the fallout from Stiller's defection from another angle, telling the story of how his flight affected the family members he left behind.
