Everything is fairly walkable from the cute town centre. Mostly a nature reserve of protected mangroves, Holbox is home to countless gorgeous birds, including flamingos, as well as crocodiles, turtles, and many mosquitoes. There is even a beach named Point Mosquito! There is no bad vibes or bad food on #Holbox and nary an annoying person in sight. This is the getaway for cool Mexicans (that’s basically all #Mexicans) and relatively subdued international tourists. Its like the Caribbean meets Comporta in Portugal. It’s not like #Tulum, and it’s definitely not #PlayadelCarmen or #Cancun ; It’s not untouched but it’s not ruined...yet! VISIT: Best Beach - #PlayaPuntaCocos, 10 min taxi from town and away from all of the resorts. This low key place on one end of the 26 mile island is paradise. Local Casper will sell you a shaded beach bed for MXN$250 for the day and bring you #cerveza to your hearts content. 5 mins walk from here is one of the islands many magical swimming lagoons; the water remains super shallow till evening. This is as #Carribean as #Mexico gets. Grab a coconut on the sand; It’s perfect. Adventure Beach - essentially a giant sand bank in the ocean just off Mosquito Point is where we glimpsed a flamboyance of 23 flamingos! Go early as the tide comes in quickly and it’s 45 mins on foot so it’s tough even in the morning sun and impossible at night Main Beach - where all the resorts front onto is a bit meh , covered in seaweed until evening, however you can grab an amazing hour long massage from various vendors (all good) for MXN$500 Whale Shark tour is 6 hours of torture on a tiny boat on the open ocean, though the pay off is swimming with these gentle creatures, snorkeling, bird watching and eating delicious fresh ceviche under an abandoned lighthouse.」8月9日 7時45分 - tomenyc
