What she was doing was terrifying (Beehive in Acadia, anyone?) and she rightfully stopped for a long moment to catch her breath. She didn’t cry and she didn’t turn back. She just rested for a moment. I was impressed by her perseverance and her courage and her willingness to keep going, and I was also so moved by her willingness to feel her fear. Her friends had her back in such a steady handed way and I thought that was especially beautiful too. As we move forward in time and up this giant Beehive Mountain of life and the new story of our country, towards new laws, new elections, new leaders, and new reckonings that will keep coming, sometimes we have to catch our breath. I am lucky to be breathing borrowed air from Maine and doing it next to my @joetipps who pushes me in so many of the right ways.
