We’ve seen over and over in our lifetimes what happens when species are driven too close to the edge of extinction—their numbers whittled to a few languishing survivors, their gene pools depleted to a fraction of their former diversity. Among rhinos–mighty creatures that have endured for millennia–our cautionary tale is the fate of the northern white subspecies, whose resurrection may come only through the most experimental and radical means. This is why we have our sights set firmly on what is still within our power to achieve–with enough determination and commitment, we can secure a strong future for Africa’s remaining rhino subspecies. #rhinos #rhinoconservation #endangeredspecies
