Portraits of icons of the visual art world and their studios taken by Magnum photographers, including @alexmajoliphoto's of Japanese artist and writer Yayoi Kusama, appeared in the Evening Standard and Dazed magazine this week.

The pieces coincide with the the newly-released Magnum Artists book, which showcases over 200 portraits of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

PHOTO: Artist and writer Yayoi Kusama in her Shinjuku studio. Throughout her career she has worked in a wide variety of media, including painting, collage, scat sculpture, performance art, and environmental installations, most of which exhibit her thematic interest in psychedelic colors, repetition and pattern. Kusama is also a published novelist and poet, and has created notable work in film and fashion design. Tokyo. Japan. 2016.
