The @britishfashioncouncil had shared with us a list of the best stores in the world and of course DNA, in Riyadh, was one of them. Every season, we were waiting to meet Princess Deena at the LONDON Showrooms until one season, oblivious and unaware, I was showing my collection to this very stylish woman, who full of enthusiasm told me she first saw my work in a small boutique in Capri! 20 min later I asked her name and to my surprise she told me her name was Deena. I said “oh my god, are you Princess Deena?” From what we had been told, I expected an entourage.. She told me “I am a princess by marriage, please just call me Deena”. From that day not only did she pick up my collection for her store, but it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I respect you for coming all the way to tell me in person that my interiors collection would be too risky for Riyadh, I thank you for countless hours of going through fabrics and inspiring my collections, for editing my moodboard which featured you countless times, for reminding me why we fell in love with fashion and for taking my side when I told you “I’m doing it for my country!!!” 😁 Every season in Paris I look forward to our midnight catch ups over spaghetti Bolognese till the early morning hours with Dryce, even when that means missing your flight! You are a visionary, the best editor I know and have the most discerning eye for what is timeless. You gave us all an iconic first issue of Vogue Arabia and continue to inspire me with your vision.
