How are you doing today?

Prioritizing healing & self-care is really important to me. I believe in the power of taking time for yourself each day, even if it's just one minute. You deserve to feel your best-- You matter & your mental health matters too.

To be honest, when I was competing, I didn’t have the knowledge or tools to help manage my mental well-being. I would push through tough practices and injuries, but it was all tied to physical performance. Rest and recovery was an absolute must, physically, but I didn’t apply the same approach to my mental health. I was so focused on what I was doing in the gym that I didn’t pay attention to the stress, anxiety and trauma I was experiencing and the impact it was having on me. And when I look back now, I realize just how much I would have benefited from guided meditation, therapy and other self-care tools both in and out of the gym.

I partnered with @sanvellohealth because healing isn’t once size fits all. Sanvello has a library of self-care content like meditation, practicing gratitude, journaling are a few & a community to find friends, coaching for extra motivation, and professional therapy for support if you want it. Plus, they partner with insurance providers in the U.S. to cover this care through health plans, which can help eliminate one of the barriers to those seeking help.

Reminder to take some time for yourself today. One minute is better than nothing! Self care isn’t one size fits all and I encourage you to find something that brings you calm or joy.

Some ideas are:
Journaling, saying 3 things you’re grateful for, paying attention to the noises around you, going for a nature walk, focusing on your breath, doing a body scan & relaxing your muscles, dancing, listening to calming music, stretching, putting hands over your heart space, observing something as if it’s your first time & eating food as if it’s your first time.
