He also just celebrated 20 years cancer free (go look at his last post 😭) There are so many things that make him amazing. Always first on that list is his faith in God, and the way he points us and leads us to Him so generously, with love, by example, never pushing, just always showing us the way. Secondly he inspires us all to never stop learning, growing, and changing! After his cancer diagnoses he stopped eating meat (he loved a good steak before that) and been pescatarian ever since. Then a few years ago his health and weight was not what he wanted it to be so he decided to start walking 10,000 steps a day. He hasn’t missed a day since! Then...at the beginning of the quarantine he decided instead of just walking he’d jog a little every day. He didn’t even tell us, didn’t make a big deal about it, he just did it, and what a transformation! Just a few years ago (before he started walking) we went snow skiing. We’ve always loved to ski together and my dad has always been a good skier, but at this time he had had about 9 surgery’s due to his cancer and complications around it, and he wasn’t in very good shape physically. I remember Dad struggling to walk up the mountain to get his skis on, and being sad seeing him not be able ski like he once did. Well, look at him now! I told him I needed a new picture with him because he’s changed so much! This man decided to do something different and he did! He’s 69, a cancer survivor, a lover of God and people, a great-grandfather, and he’s better than ever! I couldn’t be more proud of him and thankful to get to call him my dad!!
