I'm always a bit reluctant to give out straight-up advice. Timmy and I are mostly just figuring things out as we go, and we are far from perfect parents. Sonny had two bags of mini cookies for lunch today. However, I can confidently say kids benefit from routines. Probably, the most crucial routine is his bedtime. If I really think about it, that hour from bath to bed and everything in between is perhaps the most valuable, nourishing, burned-into-my-memory-forever time in my life. Our goal is to imprint as much love into Sonny's brain so that whenever things get tough for him, there is a foundation of love that he can rebuild from.
