In fact, it’s the lazy and easy way out for Athletic Departments that aren’t willing to roll up their sleeves to come up with solutions that their athletes, alumni, community and future students deserve. These Athletic Departments need creativity, forward-thinking minds, and some guts to save these opportunities. College athletics, outside of football and basketball, have been forced to ask the questions: Why do we exist and for what goal and purpose? Is it about participation and opportunity, or is about constantly spending for something bigger and fancier and constantly having more? Do better. We’ll have more to come.
