Temples with 5-story pagodas along the Tokyu lines. Jyouzaiji is a temple tucked in a residential neighborhood just 7 minutes from Setagaya Station by foot. Once through the gate you’ll find the main hall, completed in 2002, 500 years after its founding. With lush greenery and the sounds of trickling water, the temple grounds are filled with more nature than you’d expect from a spot in the city. If you peer into the greenery in front of the main hall, you’ll notice a two-story garden on the ground and basement floors that seem to hold everything in. The 5-story-pagoda sits inside the cemetery area of the grounds. It was modeled after the Daigoji temple pagoda in Kyoto and completed in 2015.
