One year ago today, my then-partner (now friend for life) @theemmaslater and I unveiled the tango we’d been practicing for three weeks. This night made me fall in love with dancing, and fall in love (all over again) with performing in front of an audience. As they announced my name and I felt the energy of that room, a HUGE dopey smile plastered itself on my face. I quickly looked down to hide it - this was not the story we were trying to tell with that dance - and the shit-eating grin you see when I first look up is the most my soul was willing to temper just how thrilled I was to be back home on a stage. For me, performing is all about connection with the audience. @dancingabc did a good job the other night blending fake noise in with the live competitor reactions, but if you listen to the first few bars here, you’ll hear the real thing. It’s important to keep safe... but it’s also important to keep connecting, however we can. Human connection is good for us. Be well everyone!
