Oh Mavie, I love you silly amounts, you are perfect from your cheeks to your toes & I’m so proud to be your auntie! 😍 Not that long ago I got really scared, that I’d left my plans to start a family a little too late, that I’d focused on my career when I should have been nurturing my personal life instead. That I’d made poor choices in my 20’s & that subsequently I was about 10 years behind most of my friends & maybe being a mother just wasn’t in my stars. And some times, when I felt really low, I thought I didn’t have what it took to be a mother- I always feared I lacked that selfless, maternal & gentle side that comes naturally to most women. But I read something that made me think differently, & I think it’s about time we ALL adjusted our mindsets & stopped being so hard on ourselves! So instead of thinking: ‘Get Married before you’re 30’ how about thinking ‘Get married when you met the right person!’ Or instead of ‘Don’t leave it too late to have kids, do it in your 20’s’ how about ‘Have kids when you are ready & it feels right!’ Lockdown has taught me a lot of things- but mainly it showed me that I was rushing through life trying desperately to achieve more, earn more, Have what everyone else had & just desperately not get left behind. And I was going so fast, worrying about the next thing I didn’t appreciate what was right in front of me. Right now, I have a lovely boyfriend, a wonderful family & a job I love. I am happy being the cool aunt to baby Mavie & maybe someday I’ll give her a baby cousin to play with too- but I’m done rushing and pushing myself into something I’m not entirely ready for. What will be, will be. Remember that no matter when you fall in love, it is beautiful, whatever age you have a child it is still a blessing & finding your true calling later in life makes it no less of an achievement.
