I followed these stunning sharks for ages, watching them move in precision following oil coming from the dead whale. Australia is full of wild animals and despite this the only thing most people share with them is proximity. Knowledge, respect and information on dangerous marine life needs to become part of our curriculum in schools and general knowledge for adults. People were surfing near this whale with little concept of the danger and our reaction to shark attacks leads to shark deaths. Ineffective cull and in discriminatory nets plague our wildlife because of our fear. No one is reporting on this whale as a warning for surfers.
