My faith is my fuel. For those of you who don’t know me, I got saved when I was 22 years old in college. People always ask me what it feels like having lived on both sides: A life & a relationship with God VS a Life without Him at the center of it. What I tell them is this: If you look at my spirit like it was a planet, it probably looked a lot like Venus at the time. A place within me not breeding life and lacking true color and vibrancy. It was like a desolate spirit of a place - super dense, foggy and hot & hellish at times. That’s what it felt like when I was trying to navigate life on my own terms- not having a center in what was true or a compass telling me which way to go. I was always navigating life so unsure, fearful and in a fog. Jesus showed up (big time) in my dreams. It was like nothing I’d ever experienced & I remember immediately waking up and it feeling like my sleepy spirit woke up for the first time in forever. God truly showed up when I opened my heart, and almost 9 years later He continues to show up and lay out my steps through the ups and the downs and day to day seasons of life. ⁣ ⁣ For most of my life I saw God as a spectator. I thought He was on the sidelines just watching me play the game of life. But man oh man - God’s desire is not to be a spectator, but to be a very active participant and a coach. He wants to guide us through the tricky game of life, while loving us unconditionally every step of the way. Something God sees that we don’t see is the entire field. I’ve learned that winning happens when you allow God to step down from the stands and move from a spectator to a coach. What I can tell you is that choosing God as my coach has been the best decision I’ve ever made in my life to date.
