Does it make sense?
14 pages in our September issue + a DIGITAL COVER + an expanded digital story. We asked photographer and filmmaker Tyler Mitchell (@tylersphotos) and playwright Jeremy O. Harris (@jeremyoharris) to craft a response to 2020’s global cry that BLACK LIVES MATTER. They returned with the idea of “Black Nonsense.” Inspired by the Dadaists of the early 20th century and thanks to thinkers like Arthur Jafa and Tina Campt, “Black Nonsense” is the very simple notion that nonsense in images could be a portal to joy.
