Here’s a first glimpse of what Tom Van Der Borght will offer. Pssssssss Tom is selected for the Fashion festival of Hyères this year. We had a preview of it and it is just mind blowing! Few words from Tom : When Jean-Paul Lespagnard won the festival of Hyeres in 2008, i just started studying fashion design at the SASK in Sint-Niklaas. I had an immediate strong connection to the story and work of JP. In a way we are connected in spirit and also in the unusual story and profile we have within the fashion industry. More over, we both are proud Belges! and that unites us even more. I have always looked up to Jp's free spirit, kind heart and open refreshing take on popular art. To be, 12 years after his win, in the same fashion competition like JP, feels like another connecting experience. I've been following JP's Extra-Ordinaire concept from the start, and i feel super excited to be part of it! I think the philosophy of Extra-Ordinaire fits amazing to my own work; I focus on a new take on craftsmanship, a hybridisation of old, new, local, global, low & high culture. My work positions itself in a peculiar place between fashion, performance and art.
