"Hi, I'm Hannah, a mom of three who enjoys parkour & running! I grew up swimming all my life, constantly going from practice to school, and then from school to practice, in the small biking town of Davis, CA, in a small family unit of just my mom and me. Swimming was my life, my identity, and I was pretty good at it. But in my senior year of college, I suffered from severe breathing issues that preventing me from even competing, and I was devastated.
I found solace in running. After I graduated from college, I began to use running as a restorative activity. From dealing with the heartbreak of a swimming career cut too short, to being a mother of three beautiful (but exhausting!) children, running has been my sanctuary.
Four years ago, I was introduced to parkour by a Whole Foods cashier. It gave me the physical and mental challenge that I had been seeking ever since my senior year of college. While I am not at the level I want to be (I hadn't even begun to train for flips until this past year), I’m excited to push my boundaries to see how far I can go in the sport. My training includes both agility exercises and heavy lifting, and a lot of technique work to develop new tricks. With the amount of impact my body takes, I relish shoes, like those from HOKA, that have great absorption. These shoes allow me to continue running, which I do on my low impact days, without worrying about it affecting my parkour training, allowing me to continue challenging myself, acquiring new skills and expanding my comfort zone."
