The old-world grandeur of a family's townhome in the historic center of Milan was summoned from thin air by Roberto Peregalli and Laura Sartori Rimini of Studio Peregalli, as seen in our October 2020 issue. One of the many principles that Studio Peregalli follows is that "disguise rhymes with surprise." Upon looking inside the home, one may wonder: "Why is a handle jutting from the wall of the study?" To open the invisible door to the en suite bathroom, of course. “This is a typical homage to the 19th century,” Peregalli explains. In the first-floor study, the chair and walls are covered in a fabric by Le Manach @lamaisonpierrefrey, and the door leads to a powder room clad in Cipollino marble.
