When William Penhaligon first arrived in London, Mayfair’s Turkish baths were a place for politicians and businessmen to make deals and hatch plots. Yes, one can overhear a little too much. Business machinations. Political maneuverings. Plots, plans and ploys aplenty. No question, William probably encountered a watchful eye or two while frequenting the steam room to scrawl down a remarkable recipe - every concoction starts as an idea, of course.

Naturally, William set up shop just around the corner. His very first fragrance was inspired by the baths: a heady concoction of rose and lavender that he named Hammam Bouquet.
