George is one of my favorite directors and the project was massive. I had to be a part of it. I knew they were keen on me because they wanted someone to bring darkness and humor which is like asking me to bring condiments to my own bbq.. I got it. I also knew the tape I was sending to Australia was being sent with one other actor who I knew somewhat and although this person had the intensity they were not really in the funny biz. I had an edge but I had to take it to another level. George sent a note asking to choose a scene. Any scene that as an actor you would want to take on. One of the greatest scenes I’ve ever watched is Ned Beatty as Arthur Jensen in the film Network. It’s like 9 pages of monologue. It’s satire.. it’s grim.. it’s dark as fuck.. it’s funny.. it’s ballsy to have chosen this monster scene as an audition. I didn’t know if it would impress George or not but I felt at the time it showed I’m a guy not playing around. In hindsight like most things I don’t care about the result as much as the process of the cause. I just love challenging myself. I rented a warehouse simply because I wanted a distinct echo sound. I had my best bud @al.del.bene help film It and be across from me as I ramped up & through this verbal minefield. I sent the tape. I waited. I got unreal news from in insider on the project. I was in conversations on a Monday my agents said. By Friday the whole project was dead in the water. Finished. The movie never happened. The following Monday I was just a comedian back at the clubs again. Sometimes your dreams don’t come true.. I prefer to make those moments incredible memories also.」9月29日 4時22分
